"Families noted that the pocket money system taught their children the value of money; the concept of work and "the working world", financial responsibility; budgeting, the idea of compromise and decision-making. Participants felt very strongly that these skills are vital and that this programme should be made available to "the masses", and particularly to the poor. The Do It Daily system was particularly motivating as children received an immediate reward."

Case study: "Angela and Mike were very excited about receiving pocket money for the first time. They brainstormed what pocket money should be used for and worked out a figure with their mother using the Ka-Ching programme. Once the figure was worked out, the children were extremely excited at the prospect of receiving all that money. However, when the caregiver explained again what the money would have to be used for, as per the negotiated list, they expressed horror and shock at the idea of buying certain things (e.g. videos on the weekends and birthday cards) out of "our own money"." It has been very exciting to finally see this feedback! After three years developing the product (since August 2002), the Ka-Ching Business Parenting course was for the first time being put through its paces. Even though many of these concepts have been used in a school environment since the mid 1980's, both Midge and I were eager to see how the concepts were being used within the family unit.
We have been most encouraged. There are many positive signs coming out of the research. Some of the benefits were that parents, for the first time, had a practical tool to help their children learn one or two of life's important lessons.
Here is some more feedback:

Case study: "Lindsay has two children - Pumla and Bongi, aged 8 and 5 respectively. It has always been a struggle for Lindsay to get the children to do their daily chores and it is difficult for her to enforce these as she works long hours. Through the Ka-Ching programme, Lindsay has implemented a Do-It-Daily Pocket Money System. Every morning Lindsay leaves a list on the fridge of chores that Pumla and Bongi must complete that day and checks that they are done when she gets home in the evening. Payment is only given if each and every one of the chores is completed. She has been astounded by the results: her children seldom slip up on their chores these days, because they know that there is a reward in it for them. This has also helped her children develop a sense of responsibility." Impact Consulting, 1 July 2005
