'I must admit that it takes rather a lot to impress me. I was therefore rather skeptical when I received a copy of the Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course, especially when it promised to "enable children to become competent speakers, effective thinkers and practical problem solvers, through interaction, communication and bonding within their families. It will also help you to equip them to meet the challenges and opportunities of our rapidly changing world." Furthermore, the material states that "children derive the maximum benefit from this dynamic course if they begin with it between the ages of 6 and 14 - and parents don't need to have any knowledge of business!" I was intrigued!
Basically, the Ka-Ching Business Parenting Course is your first step towards empowering your children with sound financial and entrepreneurial skills that will positively influence the rest of their lives. The course provides parents with everything they need to introduce their children to responsible money management, self-sufficiency and financial savvy - with a little fun, and a great deal of reward, along the way. Both the Parent's Manual and children's workbooks are unbelievably comprehensive, as is the detailed website comprising forums, member support, newsletters and the latest development in entrepreneurship education. In a nutshell, I am so sorry that I did not have access to this as a child and will definitely follow the program with my children in the future. About the Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course The Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course is a structured yet flexible course that is designed to assist parents in ensuring their children's future success and happiness. It focuses on two main areas: - Providing children with the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve this. - Producing a bond of love, respect and understanding between parents and children through positive interaction. The basis of The Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course lies in a wide variety of practical business projects, which parents and children take on together. Many of the projects are suitable for six year olds - in fact, children derive the maximum benefit from this dynamic course if they begin with it between the ages of 6 and 14 - and parents don't need to have any knowledge of business! The Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course centres around: - Introducing your children to entrepreneurship and the nature of business at a young age and in a simple and enjoyable manner. - Providing your children with financial awareness and showing you how to teach them financial management and wealth creation skills that, contrary to past opinions, need to be nurtured at a young age to be most effective. - Identifying the specific qualities that employers seek in their employees. This knowledge will help you to emphasize, teach and develop these characteristics. - Teaching a number of important 'Success Skills' that children - and adults - can use at various stages at school and in the world of business to enhance learning and management techniques. - Producing a long-term bonding of the family unit through communication and interaction between parents and children as they work together on business projects. About the workbook The first thing that struck me was the superb design and layout of the workbooks. Each workbook contains master forms that can be copied for use, and all forms have been designed in various colours, indicating each age-appropriate stage. The topics covered are fascinating (once again, I wish I had access to this workbook as a child - what an amazing head start it would have given me!). Part 1 focuses on Pocket Money & Saving, and on the various business models. Part 2 covers success skills, brainstorming, mind mapping, thinking skills, self-assessment, problem solving, meeting procedures, public speaking and memory training. Thank goodness there is a manual with all the "answers" as I have a feeling that parents will be learning along with their children! Parents are encouraged to meet with their children once a week to encourage their progress and motivate them to continue. The Parents Manual is exceptionally detailed and packed with ideas and practical examples you can put into practice with your kids. There is also a Part 3 comprising important resources you will need - various websites, software, books and board games. What really struck me was the overview of what Ka-Ching Business Parenting emphasizes: - School's can't do it all - You, as parents, are better qualified than you realize - You are capable of filling in the gaps - Your influence is critical - Start early - You will effectively develop, in your home, a classroom where there is ONE teacher for every child! Imagine what can be achieved! About the website The website is an absolute mine of information. Once you have purchased the workbook and Parents Manual, you are allocated a unique purchase code which offers you unlimited access to the website. Special privileges includes regular newsletters, forums, member support and access to the latest developments in entrepreneurship education. The site contains a detailed overview of the products and services of Ka-Ching! and is definitely worth checking out if you are interested in following the program and learning more. We think... I have already sent my copy of the Ka-Ching! Business Parenting course to my niece in Australia and wholeheartedly recommend it to parents of children between the ages of 6 and 14. As an ex-teacher, I can see the value of parents following this course with their children, as well as the fact that the course covers subjects and topics that are seriously lacking in the school curriculum.
