Hello again.

One of South Africa's leading Radio and TV personalities - Tracy Going - interviewed me live on her 'Jozi Live' evening radio show on SAFM. It took place at 9:30pm last Tuesday. For those of you who were already tucked-up in bed that evening, and want to put a voice behind this email, I highly recommend you listen to it.

It will give you great insight into what Ka-Ching! is all about. She asks some probing questions. 'Phone-in' interviews are not my favourite thing because you can't gauge the interviewer's reaction, so please excuse me for sounding a little 'jittery' - all her questions were 'off-the-cuff'.

MORE KA-CHING! HOLIDAY IDEAS

If you want to get your youngsters out of your hair and perhaps earning some extra pocket money and learning some valuable business lessons over the holidays, here are some ideas:

'Baked Corn-Bites' - buy frozen sweetcorn and some spices. Bake the sweetcorn in an oven with the spices. Sell these delicious snacks to friends, neighbours and family for a handsome profit.

'Braai Gear' - ever thought of selling something to your uncle that will help him from burning the meat again and getting smoke in the eyes? How about a water spraying device that doesn't put the fire out and get ash everywhere?

'French Mayonnaise' - in big demand at this time of year. Nothing beats the real thing. Do the numbers with your youngster and show how easy it is to make a profit.

Lessons teaching watersports or games – windsurfing, skiing, kite surfing, fishing and mussel gathering. A great way for your youngsters to meet other people!

Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course, 12 December 2006

We would love to hear more and more feedback from other parents involved with the Ka-Ching! Business Parenting Course, so please let us have any feedback about you and your familie's progress.

Here is an email I received from a parent who's son missed out on basic financial and business education at school. I am repeating it because I think it speaks volumes:

Case study: "Hi Greg, I think I mentioned to you that my son is 23 years of age, did nothing with the study I paid for at Cape Tech, I made him leave home and he waitered and hardly managed to support himself doing it. Anyway he hit rock bottom and I gave him one last chance to move back home and make good. He is working at Standard Bank as a casual teller now and has a contract until end August. I am thrilled that he is settled and is taking care of himself but as he is earning so very little (R17 an hour!), he cannot even contemplate moving out poor guy. He keeps trying to think of ways to go into business for himself and I keep having the feeling that he just might get an idea of how to go about it from Ka-Ching! so that the picture is not so onerous. I just wish that at school they had been given a course like you have to offer instead of some of the worthless subjects they seem to do! Any comments from you would be appreciated" Concerned Parent, 12 June 2006
