Case study: "I have spent time over the Christmas break going through the pocket money side of Ka-Ching and it is working well. To add to all this I have set out to make a four compartment money box for each of the kids, they will only have access to the one that has their spending money. The other three have locks on them and are emptied when we buy investments, give to charity and deposit into the bank. It should work well. My son has now got into planting palm tree seeds and is now selling them off to save up for computer games. (He wants to program games when he gets a little older)."
"I have also added a further aspect to the pocket money and I have told both my kids that at the end of every month when we have our finance meeting that anything that is left in savings I add a further 10% to their savings. My daughter is going great guns with this and is actually adding unspent pocket money to this box, my son however is in debt with me. I have let him do this to learn about the problems of paying this back. I think this course is as good for them as it is for me in helping me understand my kids. I especially like the idea that this is a family project, more of this is need in the family unit."
Maybe you can help me, I sometimes find he is becoming a little too obsessed with money and always wants immediate gratification. He is very headstrong and has a mind of his own that is very quick. How have you found responses from other parents? Grant Sinclair - Parent, 16 January 2006

Its always exciting when a plan starts coming together and hearing how the 'Ka-Ching! Families' are progressing.
In Grant's case, I think his enthusiasm is admirable, and I love his 4 compartment savings box, and the 'Income Generating Asset' his son is investing in by planting palm trees! As far as helping with some advice regarding his concern when he points out that sometimes his son is ".......becoming a little too obsessed with money and always wants immediate gratification" - I asked the co-author Midge Hilton-Green to give his response to this challenge.

Case study: "For me it has always been a struggle to get my daughter, Lindsay aged 8, to do her daily chores and it is difficult for me to enforce these as I work long hours. Through the Ka-Ching! programme, I have implemented a Do-It-Daily Pocket Money System. Every morning I leave a list on the fridge of chores that Lindsay must complete that day and later I check that they are done when I get home in the evening. Payment is only given if each and every one of the chores is completed. I have been astounded by the results: Lindsay seldom slips up on her chores these days, because she knows that there is a reward in it for her. This has also helped Lindsay develop a sense of responsibility." Forum Post Click here for more!
